Turning Local Resources Into Lasting Agricultural Value

Garbaliser develops practical circular solutions that transform locally available biomass into agricultural value — for communities and for farmers.

Born in Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley

Garbaliser works at the intersection of biomass management and agriculture — helping communities make better use of local resources while supporting farmers with more efficient, resilient and sustainable farming solutions.

What began as a response to problems we saw around us has grown into a circular model that turns locally available biomass into practical agricultural value.

It Started With a Local Problem

In the Bekaa, three problems kept appearing together.

Dependence on imported inputs

Farmers faced high and unstable costs because of their dependence on imported fertilizers and agricultural inputs.

Pressure on soil health

Intensive use of conventional chemical inputs was affecting soil health, productivity and long-term sustainability.

Wasted local resources

Valuable food leftovers and agricultural biomass were burned, dumped, or treated as a disposal problem instead of a local resource.

We saw an opportunity to connect these challenges — a circular model that transforms locally available biomass into practical agricultural solutions.

That idea became Garbaliser in 2021.

Turning a Local Challenge Into Local Value

Garbaliser connects two sides of the same challenge: how local biomass is managed, and what farmers need to produce better, more efficiently and more sustainably.

Local biomass challenge → Circular approach → Value in the field

Smarter biomass management
Better economics for farmers
Better quality & productivity
Healthier soils & resilience
Better use of local resources
More sustainable farming

One Circular Logic. Different Local Solutions.

Garbaliser was not designed as one fixed system for one location. The model is modular: it adapts to different agricultural systems, biomass streams, available materials, operating conditions, regulations and market needs.

The same circular logic applies everywhere; what changes is how it is set up, implemented and brought to market locally.

Scaling does not mean copying the same setup everywhere — it means adapting a proven concept to local realities while keeping one principle: creating agricultural value from locally available resources.

Built by People Close to the Problem

Garbaliser was founded by sisters Hanan and Zeinab Ismail in Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley, driven by a shared goal: to create practical solutions for challenges they were seeing directly in agriculture and local resource management.

Their approach has not changed since: understand the local problem first, build a practical solution around it, test it in real conditions, and keep improving it based on results.
